What would you add?

At the top of my thankful list today is community—chances to be together.

• I give thanks for the ten wild and wonderful junior high youth who attended the Confirmation retreat at Bible camp. Along with four adventurous adults, we celebrated being together. While we did learn about “dealing with real/difficult people”, the real impact was just being together—without cell phones or the demands of life. There is nothing more wonderful than hiking, chasing, skipping rocks, playing gaga ball, laughing, screaming, and intense card games to build community. We know and understand each other at a much deeper level now.

• I give thanks for the PEM community which came together at the chili cook off to support the food shelf. Peace church provided the building. Businesses and individuals donated their favorite soups, chili, and desserts. Good Shepherd had fun as young and old helped set up, serve, and clean up. Everyone was a winner as enjoyed the fellowship and opportunity to make a difference in our community—together.

• I even give thanks for the building construction at Good Shepherd which is drawing us together. We literally run into each other on Sunday mornings. I love being able to see each and every one of you!

• Last of all I give thanks for all opportunities we have to work together—through music, sports, cheer, drama, teaching, military, first responders, serving, and worship.

Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.
Psalm 111:1-2
